Your problem sounds exactly like mine.  I have a 2001 Lexus LX 470 with a Mark Levenson Premium sound.  The audio goes in and out intermittently.  My mechanic thought it might be the AMP (under the passenger seat, susceptible to water)  I went to ABT mid/high end audio store and they thought it 90% likely the radio.  They bid me $600 for a nice Pioneer radio and $600 to install it....ughh.  



based on that i am looking to repair what i have. (btw pulling the radio is super simple on the LX470, the dashboard simply snaps in, no screws.  then just 4 screws to get radio out.  I just checked the recommended United Audio for the expert but they don't list Lexus radios as something they service ( i know a toyota is similar but the front face of the Lexus lx470 radio has a sweeping face plate and needs a special dashboard kit....of which nobody makes.    i am emailing United to see if they will repair my unit (based on their website it looks to me like they swap your unit from their inventories).   but if that is a bust i would like to know where to find an electronics service center in the Chicago area.  Thank You
