Audio Systems - BA clock radio speakers for LCD TV?

Expert: Wayne Tapia - 11/3/2009

Question
Hi,

I am trying to connect my Sanyo LCD TV to my Boston Acoustics Duo-i clock radio.  The sound quality on the clock radio is superior to the TV, and both have RCA jacks on the back to accommodate auxillary components.  When I connect the cables, I do not receive an audio signal thru the clock radio.  Do I need a tuner in between the two or something?  THanks very much for your help.  TJ

Answer
First of all, check to make sure that the RCA connections on the radio are for audio input. Also, that you are going from the stereo audio output from the TV. I only mention this because some have tried to go from a digital audio output to an analog audio input (which will never work).

If that is the case, you may want to check your audio settings on the TV. Some sets will have a menu function that needs to be activated to send audio from the tv via the Audio Output jacks on the back. This may disable the TV speakers depending on the model.
