Audio Systems - Decoding HD Audio

Expert: Wayne Tapia - 11/2/2009

Question
If my Blu-ray player and my receiver has the ability to decode HD-master audio & DTS-HD which one should I use to decode? Does it matter?

Answer
It probably doesn't matter too much. If you can tell the difference between the two encoding types, just run with the one you prefer.

They do this because different discs may or may not have all of the encoding options. By the time it gets to the decoding process, it typically makes little difference to the end user.
