Question I have a 04 suburban with a factory dvd player and looking to get a new stereo put in. The place that is going to install the new stereo told me that the factory DVD will not be able to have the sound go though the speakers and also I will loose the middle console that the people in the backseat can plug their headphone into will no longer work. Is there anyway to have these work with a new stereo.
Answer I don't think so; at least not with some very sophisticated engineering. The problem relates to the logic controls and I/O topology of the gm cars. But, it has a lot to do with the new head unit - which you did not specify.
I suggest you get a second opinion from Ernesto on this same allexperts page. He is an expert with this kind of problem. But, you must give him the make and model of the aftermarket head unit you are going to want to use.
You may want to replace the original with an oem replacement. Try http://www.oemautosound.com/c-239-gm.aspx for replacement prices.
