Audio Systems/Problem with 2000 GMC Truck

Question
I found a post where you stated you had a 2000 Truck with an aftermarket stereo in it so I was hoping you could answer a question I had.  I just installed a new stereo in a 2000 GMC Sierra.  I have the correct wiring harness but when I shut the truck off the chime in the door goes crazy for around 5 min unless I flip the truck dimmer switch all the way off.  It then shuts off and everything is normal.  Also I discovered that the dimmer switch no longer dims the control panel.  Did I hook this up incorrectly or do I need an adapter of some sort?  Thanks for the help.

Answer
Yes, it is a wiring problem and you will have to change a connection.

Check the wiring of your installation against this wiring chart:

Seems the dimmer wires are crossed up somehow.

Hope this helps you get it straightened out.
