Question
my amplifier has stopped working due to water getting into boot space. i have priced it by landrover and it cost £750.00 for amp and craddle.could you tell me if i can get it repaired or install another one. thanks mark

Answer
If it got wet you should have made sure it was turned off until totally dry.  It takes about 1 week under normal conditions for electronics equipment like this to dry out.  Therefore, I suggest you let it dry out for at least one week before attempting to turn it on.  It should not be turned on for even one second until totally dried out.

You can always replace it with an alternative amp if this one has "croaked".  The quote you got from the Landrover people is ridiculously high.  A good automobile power amp is in the range of $200 to $300 USD.

Try this, as an example:

but there are many others to choose from.  And you can spend much more if you want.  The car dealer is usually not a good place to go for these things as they have huge markups and few dealers have electronic experts on staff. Better going to a car audio shop.

Hope this helps.
Cheers
