Shuts off after short time seems to be the some kind of overload protection circuit have removed speaker wires and turned off effect removed all input source and just turned it on without any load just keeps sw off... used  carefully less than 100 h since new 800$
down the bin?

i'd search for a yamaha service center and carefully package it up and ship it to them. might cost around 150-200 to fix, but it's an expensive unit and if you're anything like me you don't want to have to learn another all over again. i like my 900$ onkyo, took me a while to get used to it's menus and all, i'd fix mine before replacing it. hope this helps, garry.....
