Audio Systems/Home audio set-up using car stereo?

Question
I know you aren't interested in car audio solutions, but I thought that this problem may be sufficiently different to interest you. Or perhaps you know someone else who may be able to help...
After reading Mark Lampi's article (http://en.allexperts.com/q/Audio-Systems-835/Car-stereo-installation-home-5.htm) I realised that my idea of using a car stereo in the home has already been put into practice. Unfortunately Mr Lampi isn't an 'expert' here any more, so I can't quiz him on this subject.
I'm looking to use this PC PSU(http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/images/B0018LPZAA/sr=8-9/qid=1233676086/ref=d...) along with a car stereo (Blaupunkt Santa Cruz mp34) as a home hi-fi set up.
My question relates to the conversion of the PC PSU for use with the stereo. Shorting the PS-ON (green) and RETURN (black) lines should give me an ON state. Is it feasible to permanently short these wires and use the PSU switch for POWER ON/OFF?
Also do you have any advice with regards to housing the PSU and stereo? Obviously venting for the PSU is essential, but is a wooden (easily constructed!) housing feasible?

Thanks very much for your time in advance,

Euan

Answer
I don't see any disadvantages to letting the power supply run constantly, people leave their computers on constantly.  But it would be fun to put in a switch or figure out a way to have the power supply turn on when there is a draw of current( when the deck is turned on).

As far as housing goes, depending on how much other equipment you have and how much you want to spend, you can buy or build a rack.  Middle atlantic makes everything imaginable.  Though I would only use them as an informational resource you can find parts much cheaper elsewhere.

Any thing low volt. Home audio, home theaters, LANs, cable, phone, cctv. I really enjoy questions regarding the physical layer aspect of low volt (cabling ect). If you think the device is broken, it probably is. I'm not an electronic engineer. PLEASE NO CAR AUDIO QUESTIONS PLEASE NO CAR AUDIO QUESTIONS
