Audio Systems - upgrade from factory cd system to newer mp3 system

Expert: Ernesto R - 2/21/2009

Question
hi,
i have a 2004 toyota solara convertible SLE v6 with navigation system installed. it has a factory installed single audio cd JBL system accessible from behind the navigation screen (which you can see in the image). the navigation screen slides out to reveal the cd entry slot inside. infact the navigation screen also has controls for the audio system. now my issue is, i want to upgrade to a newer cd system that supports mp3/wma discs also without compromising the navigation system. maybe even add newer speakers n player (but thats optional). i'd prefer an oem kind of upgrade rather than a market gadget. what options do i have. i'd really appreciate the help. thanks.

Answer
the best way will be to add a mp3 cd changer , auxiliary input for a portable mp3 or ipod interface
the ipod interface will display all the text on the radio screen
and you will control the ipod from the factory radio
