Question
I have a dodge neon, when i got the car the tape deck didn't work so i was never sure if the speakers worked or not and i let someone (obviously not qualified) install a cd player in the car the cd player works but only one speaker but whenever i turn on the cd player it blows a fuse and all of my lights interior and exterior go out. Is there an explanation.

Answer
It is obviously wired up wrong.  It must be reinstalled.

Here is everything you need to know to install the new player:

http://installdr.com/InstallDocs/DCP/PDF/327013.pdf

Go near the bottom of the page and you will find the wiring information.

If a wiring harness was used check it for the right wiring or go to Walmart and purchase a new one  (about $9.00).

Then, pull up the install manual for the player you now have in the car and follow the wiring diagram for matching up power and speakers, etc.  You can do this yourself if you are handy or you can get a friend or relative who is handy with it.  Finally, if you got to a custom install shop they can straighten it out easily as they do these kinds of install corrections all the time.

Best wishes,
