Question Ernesto,
I have a 2006 Chevy truck that has a factory AM/FM/single CD player. It has the Bose speakers in the doors and the tweeter in the front pillars. On the front of the head unit it has a button that says "CD Aux" which gives me the impression there is a pigtail somewhere behind it allowing me to hook up a CD changer if I choose. I note from the options list in the factory sales booklet that there was an upgrade for an "AM/FM stereo with in-dash six-disc CD changer and Bose speaker system"--the description in the booklet for my unit is "AM/FM stereo with CD player" but mine does have the Bose speakers. My questions are:
1. Is my head unit a Bose head unit or is it just Bose speakers?
2. If I change my head unit will the Bose speakers work well with a quality aftermarket unit that has HD radio and or inputs for digital music or will I have to get new speakers (I hear things about Bose proprietery system)?
3. If there is a pigtail for an aux CD changer can I instead use that connection for an I pod or other MP3 player (I have not bought one yet). Thanks for any help.
Answer 1 yes you have a BOSE head unit
2 if you replace the factory radio it will be best to remove the bose amplifiers and bose speakers, they are 1.5 ohms and will damage the new head unit
3 there is no pigtail behind the radio
but there is a way to do all that AUX, IPOD and factory HD or XM SIRIUS
