Question
QUESTION: I have 2 15" kicker L7 subs. They are DVC 2 ohm subs. I have a kicker ZX1500.1 amplifier which is  1500 W x 1 CH @ 2 Ohms and 750 W x 1 CH @ 4 Ohms. I need to know how to wire the subs up in the box and then how exactly to wire them to the amp. Thanks

ANSWER: Here is one way to do it:

This approach is to put the coils in each sub in series which makes each speaker 4 ohms; then the two speakers are connected in parallel for a 2 ohm impedance load on the amp.

PS: Make sure your car 12v power system is sufficient to drive the amp.  It can draw as much as 80 - 90 amps if driven really hard.  Depending on your vehicle you may need a bigger battery and/or a high output alternator.

QUESTION: ok thanks one more thing... Do I hook it up exactly how it is in the pic using
1 positive and 1 negative terminal on the amp? Because my amp has 2
positives and 2 negatives.


ANSWER: Doesn't matter; the dual terminals are connected together and are just for convenience for cases when two speaker wires are paralleled at the amp.

QUESTION: hey thought I'd let you know the outcome of my system. It is so loud I had no
idea it would be this loud. The sound quality is amazing and everything
vibrates including me. But the more windows I roll down it's not as loud. Is
there a better way to set it up? Right now I have it regular with the subs
facing the back. Thanks

Low frequencies go in all directions.  In the car it is likely that repositioning the speakers will not change the result that much.  To balance it against the upper frequency speakers you must change the gain or volume setting of the sub amplifier.  My suggestion is to turn the volume control of the sub amp down to zero; play a music selection(s) that you wish to use for testing - one with good bass music on it - then gradually turn up the sub amp volume until you get a good balance of sound.  It should be pleasing to you; that is what you want it to do!
