Audio Systems/Amps and Speaker

Question
Hello. I currently have three MTX Thunder Pro 2 DJ speakers. Along with a 15 inch speaker of another brand .  The MTX speakers are Power RMS - 150 watts
Power (peak) - 300 watts.
Currently I'm using a 250 watt amp to push all of this. I know I'm incorrect in my thinking because this stuff is not loud as it could be. I really don't know about how amp wattage and speaker wattage match up. How many watts amp do I need to push all of these speakers?

Answer
What you did not give is the impedance of each speaker; whether they are single or dual voice coil and how you have them connected.  Also important is the sensitivity rating of the speakers.  You must connect them properly to get the maximum power transfer without overloading the amp.  But, 250W even under the best loading configuration is not a very strong power source.  Go to crutchfield and study the speaker connection combinations for your setup and it will help you get a better match.

If you are still having troubles, after wiring according to the diagrams, give me the model numbers of each speaker and amplifier so I can tell you how to hook them up.  The answer lies in the impedance of each speaker and how to connect them for the best power transfer.
