Question
QUESTION: I have Alpine Type R all around my car 6.5 coaxial(110rms) and 6x9(110rms) coaxial and 2 10" subs (Type R as well) and an alpine 1000.1 amp and an pioneer 50x4 amp for highs (6.5 &6x9) my bass never shuts off but my highs do... at first when i bought my 4 channel amp i didn't do this now that i have had it a couple of months the problem is getting worse and i had all my speakers checked and all is good i need help to fix this problem!!! Thanks

ANSWER: Maybe summer time.  The increased heat or temperature may be causing the amplifier to go into overload.

The cure is either higher impedance speakers on that amplifier OR a new amplifier that can handle the impedance of the speakers.  You may have speakers that are too low in impedance for this amplifier.  So, please check the impedance loading on the amp.  It could be pushing the power amp over its limits.

And, of course, the amp may be defective.  Did you have it checked whence you checked the speakers?  Pioneer makes good products, but they may have an occasional failure or two, now and then.

Hope this will help you analyze the problem.

PS: Quick check:  Place a bag of ice over the amplifier and see if that cures the shutting down......

QUESTION: the amp does not shut off and the amp is right i took it to a local shop to put the amp on a testing bench amp is fine and is at 4 ohms so i don't have any ideas

Answer
I am confused. You said the high frequency speaker are shutting down.

I think the amplifier is going into overlaod and I also think the impedance of the speakers are too low for the amplifier.  Can you tell me the impedance rating of the speakers that are connected to the amp?  And, do you have more than one speaker to each amp?  If there are two speakers connected to one amp it will cause this problem.

Check it out.
