Audio Systems - 1200 watt mono cerwin vega amp is flashing a red light

Expert: Cleggsan - 6/27/2009

Question
i took my Cerwin Vega EXL-1200D Car Amplifier out of a 1994 nissan quest and into a 1990 plymouth acclaim using the same pioneer head unit and  two 12" cadence sub woofers. As soon as i hooked up the power wire to the amp the speaker wire leading from the amp started melting so i pulled them off and then the amps cerwin vega logo started flashing red and the subs pulse to the flashing logo

Answer
You are not wired correctly.  The wiring is totally different between the Quest and the Nissan.  Hope you didn't fry the amplifier.

If you don't know how to check the wiring connections to power and to the speakers, get it to an auto radio repair station right away.

If You go to this page it might help you in checking the wiring:
