Audio Systems - Aiwa AV-D58 trouble

Expert: Cleggsan - 6/17/2009

Question
I have no sound in digital mode. Have digital optical cable plugged to cable box(Video 1) and coaxial cable to dvd player (video 2). Also the display does not show my left or right rear speakers but when checking speaker level balance sound comes from them.

Answer
Let me refer you to this discussion from a few years ago:

http://en.allexperts.com/q/Home-Theater-2859/Aiwa-AV-D58-Audio.htm

You can google for the owners manual if you have lost your own.  Or, if you cannot find it replay to me with your email address and I can send it to you.

As in the allexperts question above, I am inclined to think the problem of the matter is in setting it up correctly and making sure all the features are programmed correctly.

However, the digital signal coming from the cable box may not be compatible with the Aiwa because of age differences and technology variations.  Check with your cable company for the specs on the digital cable box.  If not compatible you may need to stay in the anolog domain, I think.

Let me know if you need more after going through these suggestions.

PS: I found you can download the manual for your model at:

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Aiwa-AV-D58-Receivers-manual/id/1076dj789/t/2/

And look at page 12 regarding setting for digital sources.
