Audio Systems - Amplifier Solution for 4 8-ohm speakers

Question
Hi there -
I am tasked with setting up an audio system for a small cafe.  We have two 8-ohm (cambridge soundworks model 17) speakers out in the front, and we wanted to add two more speakers facing the back of the cafe for the employees to hear that are hooked up to the same system and will play at the same time.  We will mostly be playing music from an iPod or a computer, so the receiver/amp will need to be able to accept that sort of an input.  Also, if possible, the amp/receiver should have a remote control.  Can you please recommend an amp/receiver and a second set of speakers that I could use to achieve this setup?  It will need to be budget over quality - as cheap as possible really.  Thank you for your help!

Answer
Any audio shop can help you out.  Bestbuy would be a good place to start.

You can connect another set of 8 ohm speakers for the back of the cafe with any receiver that is rated at 4 ohm output.

Your configuration will send the same power to the rear speakers as those out front. If you want separate volume control over the back ones you will need either another, separate amplifier or speaker controls which will increase the cost considerably.

Go to google shopping and you can find many products, easily, for your installation.  The URL above shows a Teac receiver for just over $100 that will do the job just fine.

You can do the same search for speakers; just make sure they are 8 ohm impedance.
