Question
I have a Samsung Max Dx55, home audio system.  It was working quite well since one year. But since a few days, it is behaving in strange ways. Here are a few symptoms:

1.   When I put in a Movie in an USB, it plays the movie, but no sound comes out. The display shows “Reading” continuously instead of the clock / timer.

2.   Sometimes when I put in a CD/DVD, it do not play the disk, instead, it keep pushing the tray in and out ceaselessly. It sometimes refused to load the disks in one go without any messages.

But all these problems are like refresh errors. After restarting the unit couple of times it starts working perfectly. But it is annoying at times. Can you please help me out? What could be the problem?

Answer
This seems like a corruption of the software codes in the EPROM memory units inside the unit.

Here is a reset procedure; it may cure this problem:

Unplug the power cord of the set for at least 1 full hour.

After one hour, reconnect and power it up.

This should clear any corrupted software and restore it to normal operation, again.

Hope this helps.
