Question
When i play call of duty 3 on my sharp LC-19SK24U 20'' hdtv, certain sounds don't play when they should. when i go to the game's options menu and change the setting to dolby prologic II it seems to help. i do not have a surround sound system, but my hdtv has a dolby digital trademark on it. is it possible that my tv can decode the prologic II signal?

Answer
The Sharp download center is not sending the operating manual so I cannot get the details of this set, but it is doubtful this model has surround sound support.  In the online reviews I looked at there was no mention of this model having a decoder circuit.  It will accept the signal from a source, such as dvd, but that does not mean it will produce the 5  channel outputs.

Look at this page on prologic ll:

http://www.dolby.com/consumer/technology/prologic_II.html

If your set does not have the 5 outputs then it does not have the decoder system needed.

In any event, you should have the owners manual;  turn the the specifications page and check it out for what it provides.

PS: I downloaded the manual and studied the specifications.  The dolby digital output is on the back of the tv; it now requires that output to be connected to a receiver with surround sound capabilities and 2 the several speakers necessary for its full reproduction.
