Question
My Bose/Clarion radio in my 1996 Infiniti I30 is dead. No lights, no sound. I metered the power cable and it does get battery power. I am guessing that some power regulator IC or a component in power section has died. It seems that this is a common failure. Does anyone know which component goes bad? I am an electronic hobbiest and can change the component. I thought to ask before spending hours on the bench.

Answer
there is a problem on the power supply
remove the constant power from the radioand leave the ignition power and most likely it will turn on
the power supply is control by 2 small transistor a voltage regulator and a small IC that is also a voltage regulator
on of the transistors is on the heatsink and near the rear plug on the radio

good luck
