Question
I have a 2004 Chrysler Sebring Convertible with a 6 CD changer that is separate from the Head Unit. It will not play any CD's or eject them. If you select a different CD to eject you can hear it trying to change but then get an ER code on the Head Unit.  Also the lights flash on the unit, first the 3 on the left then the 3 on the right.  This started happening when the battery became defective and had to be replaced.  Is there a way to reset the changer so it will function properly?

Answer
A reset can be accomplished by  removing power from the entire audio system.  There is a data link between the head unit and the changer so they must both be reset at the same time.  Disconnect power from the entire system for 15 minutes or more.  Then power up again.  If the system is theft protected you will need the code to enliven the head unit again, so make sure you've got the restoration code.

If a reset does not solve the problem it is likely a bad servo IC chip in the changer.  Repair may cost more than it is worth since a new in-dash 6 cd system may be a better and more economical choice.
