Question
QUESTION: I have just bought a Pioneer A/V receiver model # VSX-919AHK and have hooked it up to my new 5.1 speaker system (Energy RC-Micro) and Sharp LCD (LC-C4677UN) and I am having the following two problems  (have hooked up tv and cable box to a/v receiver using hdmi cables):

1) When I change channels on TV I get the following message on TV screen-" AN INCOMPATIBLE AUDIO SIGNAL HAS BEEN RECEIVED. CHECK THE OUTPUT SETTINGS.What is wrong?

2) The volume from the rear speakers is very low, I have tried do the auto-calibration twice and everything checks out ok but volume is still really very low. How do I increase volume level or is this normal? I am somewhat tech challegened and this is my first home theater system.

Thanks

ANSWER: That may be tough one without actually being "hands on". I understand this is your first system, but I will need to know how everything is connected. When the signal comes in, where, how and in what order are the componants connected? It will help narrowing down your issue.

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: the tv is connected to the hdmi #1 input on the receiver.
the speakers are connected to the fr/fl, center, rr/rl and subwoofer out connections on the back of the receiver.

blueray is connected to hdmi # 2 input on receiver.

cable box is connected to hdmi out on receiver.

hopes this helps. like i stated earlier i am somewhat tech challegened.

Answer
Try this configutation and see if you get any better results. Go out of your cable box with the HDMI to the TV input. Disable your TV speakers or turn them alll the way up, but you should be not be able to hear the TV's speakers. Go audio out of the TV to your receiver. Connect your bluray direct to the TV inputs with whatever your best connection is. Your speakers sound to be connected properly depending on their brand. Bose connect slightly differently. Let me know if there is any improvement.
