Question
I have a 2002 Lexus es300 with the Mark Levinson Stereo (factory system) that wont shut off, cant change volume (its up high) or channels, screen is blank, system wont open or shut.

Thank you.

Answer
Well, you can always shut the system off.  Just pull the power to it.  That is easily done by just removing/disconnecting the 12v power line that is feeding it.

The problem could be related to the ignition switch, the OFF/ON switch to the unit or a power supply failure.  In any event you will need someone with Mark Levinson experience to diagnose what is going on.  The ML systems are very sophisticated and not just anyone can figure them out.  Not all Lexus dealers have an audio specialist on staff so check around to make sure you find someone who knows how to work with them.

Car is old enough that it may be normal wear and tear on the system and it may be time to just replace the stereo unit; but talk with a ML qualified tech first.
