QUESTION: Ok so i'm wondering if hooking up two amps to one dvc subwoofer having each amp powering a voice coil is going to work?

ANSWER: It is a dangerous thing to do.  Why? Because the coils are tightly wound together and the inductance can couple the two outputs together and cause serious overloading to the output circuits of either amp.

It would not be recommended.  

If the amps are well designed and you are feeding stereo material you may be alright.  There are comments online about this configuration if you google around.

In any event, you should never parallel the outputs of two amplifiers!

QUESTION: Ok so more specifically let's say the sub is a 2000 wrms dvc 2 ohm sub and the mono amps both output 900wrms at 2 ohms. So hooking it up like this is extremely dangerous? Just making sure i'm understanding what you're saying.

If you were driving them mono, same signal from each amp you are okey.

If the signals are quite different - as they often are in stereo - it could create an aggravated loading on the amps.  That is my opinion.

However, you could try it and see what happens; if the amps go into overload protection mode when pushed hard it would be a sign of future difficulty.
