Question
I have a crakling noise coming over my JBL MP225 pro speakers.  Both fifteens are crackling, is it the speakers or is it the crossover circuitry?

Answer
Could be loose/separated voice coil, yes.
Could also be bad wiring to the speaker or the crossover.
Could be the crossover circuitry - bad coil.
Could be the amplifier.

You have some checking to do.  Do you have other speakers you can connect to the amp to see if the noise may be coming from the amplifier?

Try reconnecting all the wires, wiggling them to make sure you have good solid connections.

The fact you have crackling coming from both speakers is questionable that the speakers have both failed at the same time; that is why I am leaning towards the amplifier.......
