Question
my car stereo had a cd player hooked to it .it was working fine and one day i got back in and started the care it was static the radio and cd player doesnt work but the cassett does and the clock on it does..what could that be?its a 2000 dodge neon es

Answer
They don't last forever.  If this is the original car system then it is going on 10 years of age.  It may be time to replace it with a suitable aftermarket radio/cd player.  Or, still better if you use an mp3 or ipod you can replace the car radio with one having mp3/ipod input and have hundreds or thousands of tunes available rather than just the cd player.

You can have a shop look at the bad cd player but the repair may be more than just replacing your system with a new aftermarket system.  If you go to www.crutchfield.com and work through their "outfit my car" it will point you to various units that will fit into your car easily.
