Question
I have a 92 Lincoln Contiental with the JBL system.  I am installing an aftermarket system in it.  When we went to hook up the stero wires all of them were wrapped in one black cord.  We cut the cord to expose the wires, but the colors do not match up with the wire harness.  I looked online and every sight was showing colors that were not present.  Please let me know my options.  Thank you.

Answer
This site may be helpful, although they have been known to be wrong:

The only way to know for sure which wires go where is to trace them out using an ohmmeter.  You can purchase a VOM (Volt Ohm Meter) at Walmart or Home Depot that is good for this level of testing for under $10.

And, you should be able to find a wiring harness that is premade to match the cars system.  Walmart has some models and you can always find them at installer.com and other online sources.

Let me know if you get stumped.
