Question
Hi I have a Samsung 750 Series 7 TV also aSamsung BD-UP5000 Blu-Ray player a Directv plus DVR reciever and JVCaudio/video control reciever.I just upgraded my speakers. Now the FM tuner sounds great with my new speakers. Unfortunately the tv and Blu-ray won't play through the JVC . I have it hooked up this way. HDMI from Directv to tv. HDMI from Blu-ray to tv. Digital optical from JVC to tv. I can't figure out why I'm not getting any sound out to tv or Blu-ray from JVC. I hope you can understand this and help!!!!

Answer
Check to see if you have the TV set up to send digital audio to the receiver (set up menu should have a digital audio output option). Also, there may be an input selection option that you need to use on the JVC to accept the optical input (an older receiver that I had had an "optical / coaxial" selector).

Is the JVC a surround receiver? If so, you might do better to send digital audio lines from the Direct TV box & BluRay straight into the JVC as most digital outputs from TV's are 2 channel only.

If the JVC has HDMI inputs, run everything via HDMI into the JVC, and send a single HDMI out to the TV. That's the simplest set up if the gear allows it.
