Audio Systems/Mobile Audio installation

Question
Hey I have a couple questions regarding mobile audio installation. I have a 2007 Toyota Tundra that i want to upgrade the system. I want all new speakers and at least 1 sub. Would you recommend that I use one 5 channel amp or 2 seperate amps for speaker and sub. I am not looking to have the best of the best components installed but some midline stuff like Alpine Type R components and sub. and I don't really know about the amp yet. I have done several installs before but I am taking this one more seriously as far as the technical aspects are concerned. Everything will be matched to specification not just random speakers and subs wired up for noise. What would your recommendations be for a decent set up. Sound quality is more of a concern than the volume being loud, although I do like to listen to my music loud, particularly rock and metal. Any input from a professional would be appreciated.

Answer
Separate amps are always better if you can find the space to mount them.  The reason they are better is because they have separate power supply circuits and give better bottom end audio.

The sound quality will be more a function of the speaker systems you choose more than the amplifiers.  And, speaker sensitivity is important.  If you use units with sensitivity under 90db you should use strong amplifiers.  Sensitivity more than 90db will allow you to drive the speakers with half the power for when speakers are like 88db or 89db.

Spend time selecting the speaker compliment; that is where you will get the most gain in sound quality.  The Tundra has plenty of space to get good results with moderate amps.  Nothing wrong with Alpine brand; they make really good stuff.

Best wishes.
