Audio Systems/ipod dock problems

Question
I have an onkyo DS-A3 ipod dock connected to Onkyo receiver HT-R370 (part of 5.1 system HT-S3200.) Audio is fine, remote works, but I can't get the OSD or video to play on tv. All of the input settings are correct. The ipod is 5th gen, which is supported according to the manual. It's connected with composite video to receiver. Apparently, this is common, and I've read everything from it's a bad batch to apple requires an apple av cable to work properly. What's the problem?

Answer
Apple seems to have changed the pin assignments on some of the docks and iPods and iPhones. Why they do this, I have no good answer. An associate of mine has a newer iPod that does not work with his video dock when an older generation did.

My best advice would be to contact Apple. Only they will know the pin out configurations for the various generations (and sub-generations).
