does the radio control connect to any other radio other then the original cassette deck

Above is wiring information about the C1500 which should help you identify the wiring of the vehicle.
www.crutchfield.com has listings of items that will fit and work in your vehicle if you go through their "outfit my car" cruncher.

PS: My answer is, from all the above, is Yes, but you may have to be very careful in how you choose the radio and wire it. Please start your hunt first at Crutchfield's "outfit my car" sequence.
