Audio Systems/DVD Player - Recommendation

Question
I know you do not recommend RCA for DVD Players, but which brand(s) would you recommend for basic use?  I have had poor luck with Philips/Magnavox.

Answer
Yes, Magnavox/Philips are also at the bottom of the list, unfortunately!

I don't make product recommendations because of the many subjective factors.  I will offer this thought:  If you want a really good one with the latest technology and greatest features then go for the upper brands such as Sony, Kenwood, JVC, Panasonic, etc. which will cost over $75 for a basic one or over $100 with Blu-ray status.  Or, the cheapies - which cost less than the cost to repair so they are just throw-aways and if it fails you just go out and buy a new one - such as York or Coby, etc. for $25 to $30.

Just my thought.
