Audio Systems/Matrix 6-Disc CD changer failure

Question
I recently purchased an 06 Toyota Matrix. The CD player will not eject the cd's in it.  It plays them and the radio fine.   The only button that doesn't work is the eject. Is there a way for me to fix this myself?

Answer
I had the very same problem myself on a Lexus (made by toyota) and by banging vigorously on the radio unit and dashboard with my hand it loosened up the internal mechanism jam and it is now working just fine.  You might try that.

Listen very carefully when you push the eject button and if you hear a noise like the motor inside is working it means there is a jam.  If you near absolutely nothing going on inside then it may very well be an electronic defect.

Either way the unit will need to be pulled out and looked at.  To release the disc(s) it often requires removing the cover from the unit so that a tool can reach in and engage the eject arm or whatever part is not doing its job.  If it is an electronic failure it will need troubleshooting by someone with the electronic skill to test and find out what is wrong.
