Question
okay. I am completely lost right now seeing as how I'm a bit of a car audio "noob". I'm getting a single mofo 15" and a POWER ACOUSTIK BAMF-4000/1D amp. sub will be used for SPL not quality. mofo will be wired to 2 ohms. now.... I'm in the process of designing a ported box. power acoustik says the recommendations for the port size is.... 3.4cu.ft tuned at 40hz. and 2 ports measuring 4" in diameter and 8.25" in length. i only want one port for this box.

only using one port.... what should my port measurement be? i will be using a vent/slot port.

Answer
See this write up on designing for the big box enclosure:

http://www.poweracoustik.com/SUPPORT/MANUALS/PA-MOFOWoofer.pdf

A single port is unrealizable with this unit.  That is why two are specified. At least based on the Theil Small parameters taken for the 15" MoFo.

Sorry.

There are some larger boxes that others have designed for this woofer but they may not fit in your vehicle.  You can find 8 cubic ft by googling.

Or, you can design your own from basics using a design program.  Such as here:

Best wishes.  Hope you get your awesome system going soon - keep it low when driving by the local noise ordinance control officer.
