Question
I have a JVC model no. KD-SX990. I would like to know how to hook this radio up. It will be going on a 2002 dodge truck. I've look at the wires and the wires dont match also, I dont have the plug connection that originally came with the truck, so the wires will be spliced together. Thanx.

Answer
Better to obtain a wiring harness or at least plug/connector so that the radio unit is easily removed in the event it must be repaired.

You can google for the wiring diagram of your vehicle.  There are several places that list these:

www.installdr.com

or

http://www.modifiedlife.com/2002-dodge-ram-1500-truck-car-stereo-wiring-diagram/

and go down the right hand side of the page until you find your model.  These diagrams are not always 100% correct, but a good starting guide.

And, if you have a vom multimeter or ohmmeter you can trace out the wires one at a time until you have them all coded.

Once you have them all coded it is wise to attach a little piece of tape with the indication on them so they will not be mixed up and are easy to identify the next time you work on the radio.

All the best.
