Question
First I would like to apologize for asking a question that seems to be a no-brainer.My components are old and I just dont want to ruin anything. The reciever is a NAD 7150,the amp is a Carver m400-a,the speakers are BIC Venturis, and the sub is a VERY OLD Klipsch(passive).I would like to use the amp to power only the sub.My question is what is the best way to hook this up?Sorry I couldnt give the years on any of the components but I dont know any of them.I would like to thank you for your time-I think its great that you and your collegues take the time to help people.by the way,i meant hooking-up the whole system not just the sub.thanks

Answer
Page 6 of the manual for the Carver

will give you instructions on how to connect to a single subwoofer with 500W.

The NAD receiver can then be used to feed the stereo BIC speakers.

I don't know if the NAD has a sub output jack on the back panel or not: If not, you may have to just send the pre-outs directly to the Carver.  They will be stereo and the Carver wants mono in both inputs.  Therefore, you can let the stereo signal drive the amp and get less than full bass, or tie the two outputs together through a Y connector.

You should have a find sounding system when all put together.

Let me know if there is more to say!
