Question

Mach 460 stereo - back
Good morning,

I have a 1999 Ford Mustang GT with a Mach 460 stereo. It has a radio receiver unit above with a CD unit below it. I recently bought the car from someone who had an aftermarket stereo in the radio/receiver area. The original CD unit is still installed. He had removed it saying he lost the faceplate for it. All the original harnesses are there and nothing appears cut or tampered with.
I found a used Mach 460 radio that supposedly was in working condition, although I never heard it. I put all the harnesses on and everything appears to work - displays, controls and the CD. However, there is no sound. Volume goes up and down on the display but nothing comes out of the speakers. All male and female pins look fine. Am I missing something? The bottom right opening of the back of the stereo does not have a corresponding plug for it in the car. (see attached picture). I checked for any additional wires/harnesses, but didn't see any and nothing appears cut. Not sure if that's it or not. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Chris

Answer
Signal is not getting to the amplifiers or the amplifiers are not functioning.  Please check them out.  You did not say if you are getting sound from the radio unit?  If you are the amps are working, but maybe not switching on.

You can google for the wiring colors; make sure they are all connected properly.
