Question
QUESTION: I purchased a 91 am/fm cassette/cd oem(factory)stereo from 91 Mitsubishi 3000gt to replace my factory am/fm cassette in my 92 Dodge Stealth. Two plugs on harness of 92 Dodge stealth plug into back of 3000gt stereo (have 2 extra plugs on 3000gt (do not know what they are for), but have no sound and cd player has "e" error. The units look very much alike, very easy to install except harnesses are probably not compatible (as far as wiring). I have searched the internet over and just too many choices about oem harness plug ins that everyone says should work. Most info is about replacing original factory stereo with after market and I would like to stay original since these cars are basically the same. Can you help me? Thanks!

ANSWER: the diference on the plugs is because the infinity audio sytem ( amplifiers ) and the stering wheel controls

try to get the same radio for your vehicle ,some comtrol alpine cd changer and some other pioneer cd changer, your factory cd changer is pioneer

good luck

QUESTION: The two units look and install exactly the same as far as hardware (4 screws). Not an infinity audio system with cd changer, no steering wheel controls,(single cd on unit below cassette on 91 3000gt unit). According to wiring diagrams I have seen on internet, harness wiring for both units are almost identical. thanks!

Answer
looks the same but they are not the same, the additional plugs are for the strering controls and the  factory infinity amplifier on the 3000 radio, there are no outputs on the regular plugs, they are out of the amplifiers and there is pream signal on the round plug

again they look the same but there are not the same very diferent unis
