Question
Hi.I've been trying to come up with a Head Unit choice for my 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport (Non-Factory Infinity System Installed). So far I've picked out a good set of front Component Alpine Speakers (I believe 6.5's would fit just fine) and a quality set of Coaxial JL Audios. I've got a Mono-Amp to drive the Sub and an Alpine Signature for the Speakers. The only key aspect that I haven't been able to lock down is the Head Unit.

I'd like to have a Head Unit that has the ability to match the dash illumination color. I used to own an Alpine CDA-9831 that matched my old vehicle perfectly. Also, utilizing my Samsung Epic 4G streaming Pandora as well as handsfree calling, playing CD's and IPOD control are all I'm really after.

Apparently Alpine doesn't offer custom illumination with their currrent line and Kenwoods newer head units do not support streaming bluetooth (A2DP) on some and others require an additional $150 adapter. Yikes!

Is there a quality head unit out there (that you know of) that would fit my needs? Double Din will not work for this application and I'm leaning towards a HU with CD player.

Thanks,

Ed

Answer
I have no idea.  I know what you want but I don't have any knowledge of a head unit that would fit the requirements you gave.  But, I know where you can get the answer!

Crutchfield.com has an "outfit my car" that can lead you to matching components. And, if that does not solve the problem their on-the-phone specialists can lead you to the right choice.  Of course, you are not obligated to purchase from Crutchfield, but they are the best resource of all the secret information for matching, colors, interface and technical questions.

Hope they can help you as they have helped others with tough solutions when required.
