Question
I setup an Onkyo HT-S7300 7.1 home theater for my brother in law. The Onkyo has a Zone 2 to drive a seperate set of speakers. We installed Polk Audio Outdoor speakers ( 8 ohms ) along with a Niles WVC100 Outdoor volume switch. I was at his home today and the volume was very low on the outdoor speakers, we had an electrican run all the wiring and i dont remember what we set the impedeance slector on the volume control to. It may be at 8x, I think this may be the volume problem, what should the impedance setting be set at ?.. Thanks in advance.

Answer
According to the manual, the 8x setting is needed if you're driving a total of 8 speakers. If you're only driving a single set of 8 ohm speakers, it needs to be set at 1x. The WVC100 manual has a chart that explains this fully (www.nilesaudio.com/images/PDF/WVC100_manual.pdf)
