Question
The disc tray keeps ejecting and will not play or stay in the machine.  Consequently none of the feature on the machine work.

Answer
Here is a discussion that sideways relates to your query.

It may be the optical pickup system needs replaced; if you do so, the solder link in the above discussion will be important for you.

With a system this old it is quite amazing that it has not failed a long time ago.  The laser diode inside the optical pickup does not last along time.  Typical is 5,000 hours running time before the die out.

You may be able to get the optical unit replaced for a reasonable $$$.  If you don't have an Aiwa shop around, most Sony shops can handle them as Sony owns Aiwa as a company.

That is the best I can offer you until you tell me more.
