Question
my 2005 toyota camry's speakers start to develop a static as you drive maybe 5 miles and the static continues unless you pull over and restart the car then clear again. and then the static comes back after acouple miles. very annoying especially on long trips.have you ever heard of this before? we asked a dealer and they had not.

Answer
Of course, the 'dealer' has not ever heard of this before... I have heard these types of things many times.
It is probably a problem in the radio headunit or its' wiring.  As in a poor ground or internal connection in the power supply or the pre-amp. It could also be a bad antenna or the FM antenna booster. I have even seen a foreign object doing this by bouncing on the speaker cone as it plays.
No easy answers but I hope this helps you narrow it down.
