Audio Systems/New HU and factory amp/sub not working
HI , my name is Jean .
I am in a dilemma and I am not sure if the store is trying to sell me amp/sup or they are telling me the truth . I have a 2001 Town Car cartier( edition) with the premium Alpine + 6 cd changer sound system. I bought and got a Pioneer appradio4 sph-120 installed
Now sub( factory) is not working . I asked him if he plugged the amp to the new radio and then he told me " It won't work , inside the factory heading there is another amp that gives juice to the sub" and the amp in your trunk gives power to the speakers..... now this for me is weird I would think its the opposite. He told me you need to buy a separate amp & sub to have bass , otherwise its only your speakers working ... I have search on youtube and there is a few people ( with other cars not town cars) that made it work by splitting an RCA and connecting the 4-5 wires from the factory amp to cable on the main harness... and they say it works.
on the factory amp there is on the left side the cable connected to the sub and on the right side there is (1-bigger red/yellow 2-red/black 3-orange/black 4-green/black 5- small green) that goes to the front ( which in my opinion if connected right would make the amp/sub work.
I need your expertise to tell me what is the deal with this.. I dont mind losing the 6 cd changer ) but id like to have my factory sub play instead of a big sub in the trunk...
Please :) Ayuda me !!
I think you will need an interface box to match output of the radio to the cars internal amps.
Go to oemautosound.com
where you can search for the right interface for your car. If the car originally has Bose system you must have interface between the Pioneer aftermarket and the input to the Bose speaker amps. The correct interface will block the dc from shorting down the output of the Pioneer audio.
If your Lincoln radio is not Bose, then you must find the adapter for what your system is.
Maybe this will help you to a solution.
