Question
what is the wiring diagram/pattern for installing a non-factory stereo system?

Answer
The simple answer is to buy a Ford to ISO harness as all decent modern radios are ISO DIN these days. But just incase you want to do it the hard way here are the basic generic connections for Ford and DIN.
You will possibly also need an adaptor for the dash board's double din conversion.
Ebay is a good source of stuff like this, i.e. type in "windstar radio" into search as see what pops up, like this
