Question
i have a 98 mercury sable i installed a sony xplod cd black face cd player in it yesterday everything works until i turn it up above half way or so than the head unit cuts off does the problem lie in the head unit or the factory amp or else where any help would be greatly appreciated thanks garrett

Hi Garrett,
So many questions on Xplods, ??
Sounds like the amp is "clipping" due to being overdriven by a more powerfull head unit, try turning the input down on the amp input.
Also check the 12v live is good as poor connections here would give poor power to the head unit and it would cut out due to lack of juice.
Failing that you could have too small speakers, 45w per channel into 10w speakers?
