Audio Systems/Car CD problems

Question
My 2000 nissan altima GXE won't play CD's anymore and there is one stuck inside the deck.  But it started after my car battery died while the cd was playing. I jump started it and then the CD wouldn't play, even the radio. I thought it might be the altenator. Any ideas of what could be wrong.

Answer
It could be one of two possibilities as I see it.
One, you spiked the radio's circuits when you jumped it so that's a dead 'un and it may also be just “out of sync.” Also resetting the radio may be possible, also check all fuses, both on the car and the back of the radio.
And two, if I was on hand I would remove the unit, remove the cover and see what is wrong; it could just be a jam to be cleared, carefully.
