Audio Systems/Delayed Sound

Question
I had a 12 disc changer installed in my Dodge Saturn over 2 years ago.  For the past couple of months after I start my car, the sound does not come on.  Sometimes it will come on after a few minutes and other times I could drive for hours and it never comes on.  What is wrong?

Answer
You don't say if it's only when the changer is selected or if the whole head unit it silent, two totaly different ball games.
For changer only-. Sounds like a loose data lead or a problem with the reader not finding track zero (index) of the discs. check all connections including earth and fuse holders both on head unit and changer.
For head unit-. Sounds like either the mute curcuit faulty or the phone mute lead earthing out behind the radio, (has been known).
