Audio Systems/Display light too dim

Question
Hi. I just installed a Monsoon car stereo (from a Passat) into my '05 Jetta so I could directly connect the iPod to the stereo. The problem is that the display light in the stereo is too dim, and it looks different from the rest of the light on the inside. Is there any way I could fix that?

Also, the car stereo won't turn on when I turn on the car. Is there any way I could fix that too?

Thank you so much.
