The cd changer wont eject and when i try to turn on the power it sounds like its changing discs then reads error. We were going to remove it but that would include the whole console.

you're going to have to remove it anyway, the unit has problems that WILL be very costly to fix, so why not just visit your local junkyard and get an exact replacement. if there's something wrong with that one, just return it and they'll get you another one. problem solved with as little headache as possible...
