Question
Thank you for your answer.  I did some more investigation and found a green/yellow wire unplugged.  The wire was tagged "xz".  It connects to the power supply board via a plug and the other end is screwed to the metal plate by the guns.  It is obviously a chassis ground.  I plugged it in but same symptoms as before.

Answer
i still believe it's a solder connection on one of the boards which will require removing boards one at a time, looking them over real good and resoldering where necessary. other than that, you'll need to get it to a shop. you might be able to get out of it for around $200 or less, if you don't really know what you're doing, you can easily cause very expensive, possibly terminal damage. if it's more than 5-7 years old, i would seriously consider not spending good money on something that is likely to suffer a catastrophic failure in the next few years anyway.
